47: How to stay positive when things are not going well

Welcome to Woman Leadership show. I'm Janet and in this episode, I will be sharing with you

My father has left us when I was 6 years old, my mum had to work. I stayed y with my aunty family and grandparents given no other option and looked after the provision shop helpinh out as early as 6am and got to sleep by 10pm after completing all housework and cleaning. I was crying during times when I felt lonely and when I was scolded for making mistakes and no one to talk to. I kept a diary where I wrote my feelings so it become my friend since I had no one to speak to. Reading book was my way of releasing my negative feelings and thoughts. I would look forward to have chances to play with my cousins or neighbourhood friends. That kept me going till I left and stayed with my grandmother at her house.

It took me longer time to complete my degree due to work and so I take lesser subjects during some semester. What keeps me going other than encouragement by my friends and hubby then, I keep myself motivate by staying positive that one day I will complete it just need to keep going.

Though I was earning only $2000 at the age of 30 years old but I stay positive and patiently learn and grow, my mindset was the breakthrough. I t was my first step in investing SGD12, 000 in the quantum leap program over 12 months that has shifted my mindset and accelerated my career and income within 3 years. At times, I would think negative of what happened to me during childhood and started to be pessismist and having the blame game. When things did nto go well for me or work ou as plan, I would have an excuse, somebody or my past to blame. I may seen as cheerful and optimist girl but I had so much negative thoughts which can eat me up slowly and slowly poison myself

Takeaway
It is okay to feel down but I need to lift up myself quickly to prevent from sinking deeper into negativity and start doing something such as reading inspirational book, listen to audio of successful people and their stories. Listen to TED talks where there are inspiring stories that they maybe have disability or their challenges but how they overcome it with their determination, persistent, resilient and hardwork.

Surround myself with good intention friends and like minded people whi has my back and will stretch me and push me to go after my dreams and goals in life. People who speak about vision, mission and plans but not about people only.

Get into motion such as doing a first step will lead to other opportunities and many doors will be opened . One door may close but there other will open up. Have faith that bad times will not be forever and treasure the good times.

I hope that through my sharing, it draws inspiration and personal reflection for you. I believe every woman can be a leader in your own way. I look forward to seeing you in my next episode where I will be sharing with you tips and ways to realize your full potential as a leader on Woman Leadership.
